A necklace featuring a butterfly pendant hung from a paperclip chain.
A self-taught jeweller, Bebe James has a close relationship to the tactility of materials. Working with sustainably sourced gemstones and sterling silver, their qualities are honoured in every piece of jewellery, developing playful forms that blur the threshold between the classical and imaginative. Lucid memories of childhood – a daydream of liquid stars and private symbology – inform Bebe’s design language. These forms are preserved through lost wax casting, the transformative process at the heart of her practice. Each piece is made to order in her home studio in Lyttelton.
